Three teachers from the Marshalltown Community School District have been selected for an upcoming “National History Day” program.

The three teachers will be part of the National History Day organization’s “Historical Argumentation Webinar Series,” which is slated to take place this spring.

MHS Heritage Spanish Teacher Kristin Stuchis, E-L-L Teacher Shawna Hutchinson and Learning Academy English Teacher Katherine Mummer were among five teachers in Iowa, and 120 nationwide, who were selected for the National History Day Webinar Series.

The webinar series features resources from the Library of Congress.  Through the course, teachers develop strategies to help their students think like a historian and develop a solid historical argument.  The participants earn professional development credits upon course completion.
