Officials in Jasper County say one lane of westbound Interstate 80 near Newton was shut down for a time Thursday evening due to a jackknifed semi truck.

The crash happened at around 4:45 p.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Emergency response crews spent several hours at the scene of the accident.
