Earlier this week, the Poweshiek County Supervisors reviewed comments received from county employees at last week’s board meeting regarding employee pay increases for fiscal year 2023.
The board discussed and agreed the five percent increase that was previously approved was an acceptable increase for employees.
In addition, the board noted the budget has already been proposed and there is no way to adjust the budget to include more expenses at this time.
The board stated it would keep the information on hand for the next budget year. The board also encouraged county employees to start talking with their department head and supervisors about any pay issues they may have right away to alleviate future concerns.
The board this week also heard from jail administrator Joe Meyer and Sheriff Tom Kriegel regarding the food service contract for meals a the county jail. Both indicated they have been having issues with Hy-Vee the current meal provider, and are now looking at other food services options.
The board also signed a contract received rom County Attorney Bart Klaver for new case management software for the county attorney’s office.
