A section of westbound Highway 30 in Marshall County was closed for a time Monday due to a collision between a tractor-trailer and a cement truck.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Hart Avenue, east of State Center.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, the accident happened when the semi struck the rear of the cement truck, causing several tons of wet concrete to spill onto the roadway.
The driver of the semi was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the cement truck was uninjured.
The accident caused the highway to be shut down for approximately two hours.
The accident remains under investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement Department.
