The unemployment rate for Marshall County for the month of  January was reported at ten-point-four-percent, which is a notable increase from the rate of nine-point-five percent, which was reported for the same period a year ago.

In December 2021, the Marshalltown metropolitan area reported that 10,380 people were employed city-wide and the labor force participation rate was 8.7 percent, according  data received from Iowa Workforce Development.

The Marshalltown area reported 1,600 people were unemployed in January 2022 and the city’s monthly unemployment rate was 13.3 percent.
