Several government entities from Marshal land Tama Counties are looking to benefit from a special tax savings program known as the “Public Innovations and Efficiencies Program,” which is now in its second year.
The program has seen a 55 percent increase in overall participation since its inception. The increase includes entries from 84 counties, 310 cities, and first-time submissions from 121 school districts.
Government entities from Marshall County that are participating in the 2021 PIE program include State Center, Countywide Submission, Melbourne, Albion, West Marshall, Community School District, Ferguson, Liscomb, Rhodes, and LeGrand.
Government entities from Tama County that are taking part in the PIE program include Chelsea, North Tama Community School District, Dysart, Clutier, Traer, Attorney, Garwin, and Montour.
Iowa Auditor of State Rob Sand created the PIE program in 2019 to spark innovative ideas to cut waste and save tax dollars. Auditor Sand will announce the winners of the 2021 PIE awards at a later date and recognize their money-saving achievements by hand-delivering PIE to community leaders.
