Two Iowa State University Students who were charged with “Threats of Terrorism” have had their charges amended.
Eighteen-year-old Abdullateef Malallah and 19-year-old Ty Jerman were both arrested by police in connection with a campus-wide incident that occurred on February 21st.
Attorneys with the state of Iowa this week have announced that charges against both students have now been amended to “Intimidation With a Dangerous Weapon” and “First-Degree Harassment.”
According to ISU Police, both individuals made suspicious posts on the social media app Yik Yak telling fellow ISU students to avoid areas on campus.
Police noted they didn’t believe the students intended to commit violence, but their actions were treated as a serious crime.
Both students currently have jury trials scheduled in May.
