An Iowa Falls woman convicted of forgery charges in Hardin County was recently given a suspended five-year jail sentence in district court.

Thirty-one-year-old Melissa Harris of Iowa Falls was convicted on one count of forgery – which is a Class D Felony.  Three other forgery charges, four identity theft charges, and a four degree theft charge were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

The original charges brought forth against Harris stemmed from incidents that occurred last July in which Harris admitted to using another person’s credit card without their permission at a Hardin County ATM.

Harris also pleaded guilty to “Accessory After the Fact” and “Driving While Barred” in January.  In that case, she was charged with Third-Degree Theft, Driving While Barred, Conspiracy to Commit a Non-Forcible Felony,” and “Possession of Burglary Tools.”

The latter two counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement and the “Third-Degree Theft” charge – A Class D Felony – was amended to “Accessory After  the Fact.”
