The filing deadline has passed for area candidates running for positions in the Iowa Legislature after the 2022 election.

Democrat Sue Cahill of Marshalltown, who was first elected to the Iowa Legislature 2020, has filed nomination papers in the new House District 52, which includes all of Marshalltown, along with the Marshall County communities of Haverhill, Laurel, Gilman, LeGrand and Ferguson.

Republican Incumbent Dave Deyoe of Nevada is seeking his ninth term in office, and is running for House District 51, which includes northern and western Marshall County, along with eastern Story County.

Cahill and Deyoe are both running unopposed in the upcoming election.

Representative Dean Fisher, who currently represents parts of Marshall County, will seek re-election in Iowa House District 53.  Fisher is being challenged by fellow Republican Dave Maxwell of Gibson.  House District 53 includes all of Poweshiek County and most of Tama County.
