The Community Foundation of Marshall County held its annual grans awards ceremony Tuesday evening on the campus of Marshalltown Community College.

The foundation, in collaboration with three student philanthropy groups handed out more than two dozen grants totaling $112,000 to 18 different organizations for various community minded projects.

The remaining grants were presented by representatives from the West Marshall High School Leaders Uplifting our Community with Charity organization, along with the East Marshall  High School Students Empowering and Leading group, and the Marshalltown High School Students Teaching and Empowering Philanthropy organization.

Organizations that received grants during the program included the Fisher Governor Foundation, West  Marshall Community School District, Friends of Marshall County Conservation, Melbourne Public Library, Trees Forever, Emergency Food Box, Friends of Riverside Cemetery, UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Foundation, La Raza Boxing Club, Marshall County Arts and Culture Alliance, Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA, Marshalltown Youth Foundation, Access,, the Bridge Home, Child Abuse Prevention Services, Common Bonds Community – The Tallcorn, House of Compassion, and The Salvation Army.
