An overturned semi on Highway 330 in Marshall County caused traffic to be delayed for a time during the day on Tuesday.
At around 1:30 p.m., the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol responded to a report of an overturned semi truck on Highway 330 south of Albion.
When investigating officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a semi tractor and livestock trailer on its side in the north ditch near a curve in the roadway.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the semi was traveling northbound when the driver lost control upon entering a curve.
The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities say the semi was carrying a load of pigs at the time of the accident, some of the pigs escaped from the semi trailer, but were eventually corralled and loaded onto another semi truck.
Traffic was initially confined to one lane after the accident, with the highway later being closed for a brief period of time while crews worked to upright the semi. The highway was again opened to normal traffic flow shortly after 4 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
