UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown has revised its visitor guidelines to allow more visitors for patients in the hospital and clinics, effective immediately.

The notable updates include:

No restrictions on the number of visitors for medical and surgical inpatients; two visitors per stay allowed in ambulatory surgery; two visitors per visit allowed in the emergency room department; one visitor allowed for outpatient services and clinics, including radiology; and one visitor allowed for lab with children allowed to accompany parents.  There is no restriction on the number of visitors for hospice patients.

All visitors must be 12 years or older, be in good health and be screened at the entrance for exposure to COVID-19 and related symptoms.

Visitors are required to wear a mask at all times while in the facility except for patient rooms in which a healthcare team member is not present, and all other individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  Individual departments may have more specific guidelines based on the population of patients and isolation status.

Public entrances will remain the same: The hospital’s main entrance is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the Emergency department is open at all times throughout the day.
