A North Central Iowa woman has been appointed to serve as the next assessor for the city of Ames.

On Tuesday, the Ames Conference Board approved the appointment of Shari Plagge to fill the position.

Plagge currently serves as the assessor for Wright County in North Central Iowa.

The position in Ames became available in July after Brenda Nelson resigned one month into the position.

Plagge was selected from three candidates who gave presentations to the city in February.

Plagge has 20 years of experience in the assessor’s office.

Plagge graduated from the legal administration program at Hamilton Business College and has received designations as an Iowa Certified Assessor and Residential Evaluation Specialist.
