A massive grass fire that broke out Sunday morning northwest of Marshalltown caused extensive damage at the KFJB-AM transmitter site.
As a result, KFJB-AM Radio is currently off the air until further notice.
The fire damaged the KFJB cable bridge, transmission lines, and a section of fencing located along the base of the tower.
Fire departments from several area communities were dispatched to the scene with fire crews remaining on the scene throughout the majority of the day on Sunday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
In the meantime, listeners are encouraged to tune in to KFJB-FM, 93.9, which continues to operate at normal capacity. Listeners can also visit us online at 1230kfjb.com.
