A public meeting & forum detailing the impact of wind turbines in the wake of a proposed industrial wind turbine project in Tama County will be held on Tuesday, April 19th at 7pm at the Middle School Auditorium at 505 West Street in Dysart.

The event is being hosted by a group of concerned citizens known as “Tama County Against Wind Turbines”.

The public meeting & forum is designed to provide residents with factual information about what it’s like to live near industrial wind turbines.

The group is also requesting that Tama County update its regulations governing the approval of industrial wind turbine farms, since they were first written in 1998.

A new “Winding Star Wind Farm” is being proposed by Apex Clean Energy based in Charlottesville, Virginia, for placement near the Dysart, Traer & Clutier areas from 150th Street south towards Elberon. The company says the project will generate 210 megawatts with about 50-70 turbines used, depending on the tower height, blade size & turbine manufacturers used in the project.
