Fire early Sunday morning extensively damaged a residential home located in the northeast part of Marshalltown.
At around 1:40 a.m., the Marshalltown Fire Department was called to a reported house fire at 4 North 12th Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered heavy flames coming from the rear of a single-story residential structure.
No one was at home when the fire broke out.
Firefighters quickly attacked and extinguished the fire.
A neighboring residence also sustained some damage from the fire, as well.
No injuries were reported.
Total damage to the home where the fire originated was estimated at $24,000 with the neighboring property receiving an estimated $4,000 in damage from the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
