Hundreds of people from Marshalltown and the surrounding area turned out Saturday morning for a ribbon cutting and open house for the new UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Hospital located at 55 UnityPoint Way, just south of the intersection of Highways 30 ands 14.

The new hospital is the result of a $38.4 million expansion of  the existing medical park on the south edge of the city.

Jenny Friedly, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown, says the new hospital has been a long-time priority for the community of Marshalltown.

Deirdre Gruendler, Executive Director for the UnityPoint Health Marshalltown Foundation, also had many great things to say about the new hospital and its impact on the Marshalltown community.

UnityPoint Health’s support services began moving into the new facility on April 21st with the remaining departments expected to make the move on April 25-27.
