Newton High School athletic officials are scrambling to make badly needed repairs to the school’s baseball field ahead of the upcoming baseball season, due in part to a tornadic thunderstorm which hit the area on March 5th.

The school is scheduled to begin practice on Monday with the 1st games of the season slated to take place in a couple of weeks. The field, in its current state, may be used for practice, but cannot host any games until extensive repairs are made. Local officials are hoping things will somehow come together in a timely fashion before the season begins.

The Newton High School Baseball Team is scheduled to play their 1st home game of the season on June 6th.
