The Poweshiek County Supervisors this week approved using funds set aside through the American Rescue Plan Act to help finance various government related services being offered throughout the county.

Under the final rule, counties can allocate funds received up to $10 million as lost revenue geared toward government services. More than $1.7 million was made available to the county during the 1st funding allocation provided through the ARPA Program. In all, 25 different projects within the county were awarded funding through the $109 trillion American Rescue Plan Act, which was signed into law by President Biden in March of 2021.

One of the more notable beneficiaries of the program was the Grinnell Regional Medical Center, which received $250,000 to help fund a proposed laboratory expansion project. The cities of Brooklyn & Montezuma each received $300,000 to go toward enhanced emergency medical services.
