Iowa voters who would like for their names to appear on the election registers on election day are reminded that they need to pre-register to vote by 5 p.m. on May 23rd.
After the pre-registration deadline, any person who is not already registered in their county of residence may do so by providing identity and residency.
The process is called Election Day Registration, even if it’s done during absentee day voting and not on election day at the polls.
If a voter wishes to register after the pre-registration deadline in the auditor’s office and vote in the upcoming election, the voter must cast an absentee ballot at the same time. If the voter wishes to vote on election day, they must go to the correct precinct and complete the election day registration process.
