A pre-trial conference is set for today at 1:30 p.m. for a man accused of killing an Iowa State Trooper at his Grundy County home, one week before the man goes on trial.

Michael Lang of Grundy Center is charged with First-Degree Murder.

Police say Lang assaulted an officer during a traffic stop in Grundy Center last April.

Lang barricaded himself inside his house and then shot State Patrol Sergeant Jim Smith after Smith entered his house.

The conference is at the Grundy County Courthouse.

Lang’s trial is set to begin May 9th in Hamilton County.
