The Marshalltown Police Department is investigating a reported stabbing incident that occurred during the overnight hours Monday within the community.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., Marshalltown Police were called to UnityPoint Hospital where a 41-year-old Marshalltown man was being treated following a local stabbing incident.

Hospital officials say the victim’s injury is not believed to be life threatening.

The Marshalltown Police Department continues to investigate the incident.

A preliminary investigation by police has revealed that the victim and potential suspect are acquainted with each other.

The Marshalltown Police Department is advising citizens that there is no immediate danger to the general public relating to the incident.

The names of the involved parties are not being released at this time due to the ongoing nature of  the criminal investigation.
