The Tama County Board of Supervisors looks to discuss and possibly consider re-approving the county’s existing wind ordinance without making any definitive changes to the ordinance during its May 16th regular board meeting.
The county board has also informed avid supporters of the “Tama County Against Turbines” organization that the coalition cannot speak at today’s public meeting, since they’re not listed on the agenda. The ruling comes even through the group had initially requested to be placed on the agenda during the May 9th supervisors meeting.
Instead, supervisors offered the coalition the opportunity to attend the supervisors work session, which begins at 8:30 a.m., but is not a matter of public record, since no minutes are recorded.
Representatives from the T-C-A-T coalition have announced that they plan to be in attendance with certain members of the organization expected to speak at that time.
The coalition has also announced plans to attend the supervisors public meeting which start sat 9:30 a.m.
To date, approximately 800 people have signed a petition requesting that Tama County officials update ordinances governing the zoning of industrial wind projects to better protect public health ,safety, wildlife and land.
