The Marshalltown School Board was informed of various types of career development opportunities that are being made available to teachers during the summer months at Monday’s regular board meeting.
Director of Instruction Shauna Smith provided a general overview of the types of opportunities that are being offered to teachers in the months ahead.
Available opportunities that are being provided to teachers during the summer months include Professional Learning Community Institutes, Online Academy, Teacher Externships, and Responsive Classroom Training.
The board discussed the need for having a professional development calendar in place for the 2022-23 school year with career development opportunities for teachers to be coordinated through the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching.
The board later approved to seek the services of the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching for coordinating future teacher development opportunities.
At Monday’s meeting, the board also received a presentation from Marshalltown Learning Academy Principal Eric Goslinga.
The board also recognized several Marshalltown High School seniors who received their Associate Degrees from Marshalltown Community College ahead of receiving their regular diplomas from Marshalltown High School.
The board also recognized this year’s student school board representatives and thanked them for their service on the board.
The board also approved this year’s Marshalltown High School graduating class as presented.
