A sentencing date has been set for a Grundy Center man who was recently found guilty of shooting and killing an Iowa State Trooper.

Forty-two-year-old Michael Lang will be sentenced to life in prison on June 27th.

Earlier this month, Lang was convicted of First-Degree Murder in the death of Patrol Sergeant Jim Smith last April in Grundy Center.

Lang was also found guilty of Attempted Murder, and Assault on a Peace Officer in connection with the standoff.
