The Marshalltown Police Department has filed charges against a juvenile male subject in connection with an incident that occurred Monday evening at a Marshalltown city park.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. Monday, Marshalltown police were dispatched to Arnold’s Park for a group of juveniles that were threatening each other.
One of the juveniles in questions was said to have a gun in his possession, according to the initial complaint received by police.
An officer arrived on the scene within two minutes of receiving the call and made contact with several juveniles in the area while another officer made contact with juveniles at another location.
Through many interviews it was determined that one male juvenile had threatened to shoot another juvenile while pointing a gun at him.
The male juvenile in possession of the gun then fired the weapon into the air, according to a press release issued by the Marshalltown Police Department.
No one was injured in the incident.
The handgun was then retrieved by police and the juvenile was taken into custody and placed in juvenile detention.
The juvenile male was charged with the following crimes: Assault With a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed With Intent, First Degree Harassment, Being a Minor in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Reckless Use of a Firearm.
