The Jasper County Conservation Board has received $8,000 from the Jasper Community Foundation for the purchase of ten stand-up paddleboards to be used during upcoming summer events.
Paddleboarding and kayaking opportunities will be offered at all public events and at the Watersports Youth Summer Camps.
Lake Paddles will be available at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve on June 4th from 10:0 0a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and on June 8th, June 22nd, July 7th and July 12th, from 6:00 t o8:00 p.m.
Two public paddles will be provided at Mariposa Park on July 21st and July 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The programs are being offered for those who wish to try the equipment out, sharpen their paddling skills, and enjoy being on the water.
To pre-register, visit www.jaspercountyconservation.com. All registration forms need to be returned to the Jasper County Conservation Board Office at 1030 West 2nd Street in Newton, Iowa. There is a fee of five dollars per person for use of the equipment, which can be paid the day of the event.
