The City of Marshalltown has made it a priority to inspect all of its bridges on a regular basis i nan effort to ensure every bridge is structurally sound and safe for everyday use.

Heather Thomas serves as the Director of the Marshalltown Public Works Department, which oversees such project throughout the course of each year.

According to Thomas, the city recently got a report back on the current durability and safety status of  each of the city’s bridges.

She says the Center Street viaduct over the rail bridge has received much attention as of late, as far as needed improvements are concerned heading into the immediate future.

Thomas says overall bridge durability and safety has always been and will continue to be a top priority issue for the City of Marshalltown.
