The City of Ames is working with the National Weather Service to monitor local stream flow predictions and prepare for any low-level flooding.

Heavy rainfall early Wednesday morning, combined with saturated ground, has created conditions for high water levels along area roadways.

The city is modeling river crest levels for both the Skunk River ad Ioway Creek.  Potential impacts include the area along SE 16th Street and South Dayton Avenue.

Flooding has also impacted some low-lying areas within Brookside Park.

Flooding is always a risk during times of significant rainfall.  Residents should prepare to move valuables, including vehicles, to higher ground.
