The Marshalltown Police Department is advising citizens that they have received reports from numerous individuals of fake money circulating throughout the community.

In a press release issued by the department on Monday, it was noted that scammers will always be creative when trying to steal from you.

The release further noted that movie prop money has been detected circulating within the Marshalltown community and  people are trying ot use the bogus bills to rip people off.

Area residents are being encouraged to always look closely at any currently being given to them.

The release further noted that fake money can come in any denomination.

It looks real, but you should pay close attention to the markings that clearly identify as motion picture copy money.
