Admiral Mike Franken, a retired 3-star admiral and candidate for U.S. Senate held a “Meet and Greet” event for loyal supporters on Thursday at Riverview Park in Marshalltown.

Franken, a Democrat, will face off against Republican Incumbent Chuck Grassley in the November General Election.

Franken says now is the time for new leadership at the federal level, and he feels he has the abilities, the desire, and common sense values that are necessary to unseat Grassley come November 8th.

Franken says he intends to use a basic hard work down to earth approach while competing against Grassley.

Franken was born and raised in northwest Iowa.

He also served in the U.S. Navy where he spent nearly four decades serving the country.
