A Marshalltown man accused of stealing a pickup truck from a residential driveway in Iowa Falls on Easter Sunday has pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge in connection with the case.
Thirty-two-year-old Brandon Hoffman entered a guilty plea to Second-Degree Theft on June 14th in Hardin County District Court.
The agreement, which is not binding until a judge issues a ruling in the case, calls for Hoffman to serve up to five years of probation and pay any court costs. The court, in turn, would dismiss the charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Hoffman is accused of stealing a 1995 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck from a residential driveway in Iowa Falls on April 17th. The truck was later located a short distance from where the theft occurred with Hoffman inside the vehicle with the engine still running.
Hoffman allegedly attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended by law enforcement a short time later.
A sentencing hearing for Hoffman is scheduled for late July in Iowa District Court.
