If you live on the south side of Marshalltown, Tuesday night around 6pm you may have experienced a short power outage.  According to Alliant Energy, a transformer caught on fire near Southridge Rd. and Governor Rd.  The fire department was quickly on scene and put out the fire.  The transformer was ultimately taken down and off of the pole it sits on.  It was just a short outage, less than 10 seconds for people as other transformers were able to handle the extra electrical load until this transformer gets replaced.
