Marshalltown Fire Department is starting a new program with Knockboxes. Chief Rierson joined KFJB yesterday to explain why a Knockbox is useful. They are boxes that can be installed on the side of buildings
Anyone over 75 or with a medical condition can apply to get a knockbox installed on their house. It is first come, first serve, and you will need to contact the Fire Department. It is free because the fire department teamed up with Rotary Club of Marshalltown to help fundraise and make this happen. Ric Anderson, President of the Rotary Club, tells us how they teamed up.
When 140 people start to spread the word, good things begin to happen
Finally they had 1 more partnership
They were able to surpass the initial goal of 20 boxes and have ordered 26. Once the Alliant Energy grant comes in, they will be able to order even more.
