Marshalltown police say they have arrested a man who threatened two teenagers outside a school using a gun earlier this month. Jose Luis Galaviz, 19, is facing six charges for the accusations by the Marshalltown Police Department. The incident occurred Nov. 7. A police investigation revealed Galaviz threatened a 14 and a 17-year-old and displayed a gun during the incident. Marshalltown Community School District says it occurred in the Marshalltown Learning Academy (MLA) parking lot, adjacent to Anson Park. A statement from the district says the two MLA students were followed as they left school, and “one of their pursuers had brandished a gun.” Galaviz was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Marshall County Jail. His charges include possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a weapon on school grounds, and others.
