A topic that was discussed at the City Council meeting was the addition of automated traffic enforcement system. The City Council is looking at adding 3 different sets of cameras to help monitor speed in town. Many of the councilmen and public had comments on this topic.
That was City Councilman Mike Ladehoff. Gary Thompson, City Councilman, mentions how majority of people he spoke with are against the new system. People are concerned that the tickets will go unpaid or add additional work to the police force. Captain Jones, with the Marshalltown Police Department, then addresses that.
The conversation ended with Police Chief Mike Tupper stating this
Speeding is a crime and the complaint that Chief Tupper gets the most. The City and Police are trying different options to get people to slow down.
