There was a house fire at 211 N. 10th Ave. on Tuesday morning just after 7 a.m that the Marshalltown Fire Department responded too. The Marshalltown Fire Department was initially dispatched to a utility pole on fire at the address. The first arriving engine company found a structure fire and immediately upgraded the response. As the first fire officer in charge walked around the building, he found fire on the back corner of the building extending up and into the attic space. During the initial phases of the operation, crews experienced a fire hydrant failure due to the extreme cold. Water supply was re-established without incident and operations resumed. The fire was quickly brought under control as the structure was searched. No victims were found inside, and the cause of the fire was determined to be an improperly used wood burning stove.
