As forecasts are predicting dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills that could be fatal in Marshalltown, a small task force has come together to develop a plan to provide shelter and warmth to those who may be homeless or without heat.

The Triumph Center located at 204 E. Linn Street Suite A. will be open from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, 12/21 through the overnight until 4:00 p.m. Thursday 12/22.

From Thursday 12/22 at 4:00 p.m. until Saturday 12/24 at 4:00 p.m. St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 9 West Linn Street will open for emergency sheltering.

The Triumph Center will once again open from Saturday 12/24 at 4:00 p.m. overnight through Sunday. We will make an assessment and plan accordingly at that time.

People needing transportation to the warming centers can call the non-emergency police number at 641-754-5725 for officer transport. There will be monitors on-site for all open hours at both locations. The only stipulation we need to note is that there will be no smoking policy enforced on the property of both locations.

There is a need for donation of blankets, pillows, food, and additional monitors. All donations can be brought to the warming centers during their hours of operation listed above. Let’s keep everyone safe and warm this holiday weekend as we gear up for a brutally cold weekend. A special thanks goes out to our partners at the Triumph Center, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marshalltown Police Department, and MPACT.
