The Miller Middle School Lego league Robotics team was recognized at the Marshalltown School Board Meeting this week. This group studied different types of electricity and decided to do a deep dive into hydro-electricity.
The theme for the innovative project it was all about renewable energy. They feel that hydro-electric energy was the most reliable. They visited the Lake Red Rock Hydro-Electric Dam where they came up with their idea
The team has made multiple iterations and decided on a smaller water wheel, which even though its smaller, created double the amount of electricity.
That competition qualified them for state and they will go to the state competition January 28th. The team will try to fabricate a smaller turbine before the competition in 9 days.
