Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Wednesday the merging of two state departments. Reynolds said the Iowa Veterans Home and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Both state agencies would be overseen by Commandant Todd Jacobus, who is currently in charge at the Iowa Veterans Home.  It’s part of the governor’s plan to merge 37 state agencies into 16. Reynolds, who spoke at the Statehouse for Veterans Day on the Hill, said the two agencies belong together and the result will be more effective and efficient services for veterans.
