An 8-year-old from Ames is trying to share her love of Play-Doh with children at Blank Children’s Hospital. Maggie Mahoney says she has a goal to collect 10,000 tins of play-doh to donate in March. Maggie was inspired to collect Play-Doh after her older sister, Riley, completed cancer treatment at Blank Children’s Hospital. The family says Play-Doh helped the sisters pass the time during long hours of chemotherapy at the hospital. When Maggie kicked this drive off in 2020, she collected 5,888 tins of play-doh. Blank Children’s hospital called Maggie’s parents and told them that they are almost out of play-doh and thanked the family again. Maggie heard they were almost out and decided to do it again this year. Maggie has held signs at Hilton Coliseum during basketball games to help spread the word, but the best way to get in contact with Maggie’s team is through Facebook. You can find their drive by search Maggie’s Play-Doh Drive.
