Junior Achievement is a program that kids will have during school, but is run by local volunteers. The topics can be about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Junior Achievement can start as young as Kindergarten and goes through high school.
That was Jenny Allen, she is the Curriculum and Professional Development Lead in College and Career Readiness for Marshalltown Public Schools. She says in lower elementary they are talking about topics that focus on themselves. In 5th grade is when they start to talk about the region and broad prospectives.
That was Jen O’Neal, Curriculum and Professional Development lead for 7 – 12 core. Pathways starts in 7th grade and they begin intertwining Junior Achievement with college readiness. Jenny and Jen tell me that they are always looking for volunteers. If you’re interested you can contact the central office and ask for either Jenny Allen or Jen O’Neal.
