Officer Nick Svoboda (Swa-bo-da) is the K-9 handler for the Marshalltown Police Department.  He stopped by the station this week to talk further about the K-9 unit and fundraiser

The goal is $30,000 and that would cover the cost for a dog and training for the handler.

The dogs will be imported from the Slovak Republic.  The training for the handler is 11 weeks long, but officer Svoboda says it really never stops.  He is constantly working with Atlas even when at home.  The Police Department has passed the 33% mark, stop by the station to leave a donation.
