The Marshalltown City Council and Marshall County leadership met last night to discuss a few topics, mainly the agreement to house the 911 commission in the Police and Fire building.  The City Council recently suggested raising the rent to as high as $18,000 a year.  Mayor Pro Tem and Councilor, Mike Ladehoff, explained that the city opted to make this move during potential budget deficit remedies.  He mentioned that Electricity expenses are $93,000 per year plus another $28,000 for natural gas.  While no decision was made last night, a good discussion was had and they now have a direction.  Both entities feel they need more information on what the 911 Commission is using at the facility before the next conversation.  They decided that the City Council and Marshall County leaders should meet more often and decided to meet quarterly moving forward.
