The Marshalltown City Council discussed having Trick or Treating night, sometimes referred to as begger’s night, on the last Saturday in October.  Turns out, choosing which night we hold trick or treating is something the Mayor gets to decide.

That was Councilor Mike Ladehoff, he initially called for this discussion.  He did an unofficial poll on Facebook and 32 agreed with the change and 2 were against it.  This was just a discussion item last night, but Mayor Greer made a suggestion

This will be on the next meetings agenda to be finalized into a city ordinance moving forward.  The city is asking other organizations to do their Trunk or Treating events on another night or be finished by 5 pm so the kiddos can trick or treat around town from 5 – 7pm.
