April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, Marshalltown Police Department receives these types of calls all year long.  Police Chief, Mike Tupper, tells listeners about some of the statistics of Child Abuse in our area.

Chief Tupper stresses that these are the confirmed cases and cases that the department investigated.

April is time to bring awareness to the issue and know that it happens in our community.  The Chief says these crimes often happen behind closed doors, which makes it difficult to talk about it.  The more we speak up, the easier it is to report.
