Senator Joni Ernst made a stop out to Melbourne on Saturday at the New Century FS plant. Ernst, similar to Grassley, has a yearly plan to stop by all 99 counties in Iowa. Just before the event in Melbourne, Ernst says she and her team stopped into the Flying Elbow to try the 1st in the state Pulled Pork sandwich. During the tour of the plant, FS had 3 trucks parked next to one another, all 3 trucks had the same towing, yet depending on ones age, an 18 year old could only drive 2 of them. Ernst, who handled transportation while serving in Iraq, felt that if 18-year-olds can fight for our country and drive dangerous materials around overseas, why should it be different in the United States? At the end of her visit, she mentions that this is her 57th county and she is ahead of Grassley so far this year.
