Captain Keil Stevenson, with the Marshalltown Police Department, was able to stop by the KFJB studio to talk about the MPACT program. MPACT stands for Marshalltown Police and Community Team, and this is where a social worker will assist the police on calls where they could help.
The only way a program like this can be successful is getting buy in from the Police Department, and they have.
The success of this program has been incredible, the police are seeing less of these types of calls. It also provides a better solution for the situation
The program has proven to reduce arrests and number of calls. That has a ripple affect for the jail, court system, and more. Saving time and money, and giving the Police Department more time to be in the field.
