This past Sunday in Marshalltown, a group of people stood on the corner of Center St. wearing traffic vests and carrying buckets, asked for monetary support. Marshalltown Chief of Police, Mike Tupper spoke with KFJB about these groups.
He goes on to say that distinguishing distressed people and panhandlers can be difficult and that one should be cautious of whom they give their money to.
Anyone can be a potential victim of panhandling, it’s not always a scam phone call, or a phishing email.
