The new Welcome Center for the Marshalltown Community School District is starting to take shape at the Orpheum Theater. Furniture has been ordered and now artwork is being discussed. Artist Greg Preslicka is working with 1st grade students and has them painting small tiles to be part of a bigger project. Preslicka will take the tiles and retrace all of the lines to create a larger image. Preslicka gave the students and district design options with main idea centered on the idea of diversity and inclusion. The 1st graders will be the class of 2034, but they are making their mark on the school district for years to come in 2023. There will be an open house and ribbon cutting for the Welcome Center June 27th at 5:30pm
